I think part of the lack of response was due to an assumption that your lamp was an antique.

Wisconsin Northern has only existed as a 'thing' since 2004, and it is a property operated by Progressive Rail (along with some other shortlines, including what used to be the Dan Patch).

Prior to 2004 its operations involved the Soo and Wisconsin Central, neither of which I'd think would be likely to stamp their lanterns 'WN'.

You might be able to verify that this lantern was sourced by Progressive by asking them directly:

(888) PRO-RAIL [776-7245]

overmod, thank you so much for the great info you supplied to me. so maybe the WC stamping on the lantern is not the WISCONSEN CENTRAL. and another rr that I cannot find. it makes sense that as a new rr line that they would not stamp or use these lanterns? then there has to be another RR that was WC. I;LL keep looking.

WNRR could be Wharton & Northern. It was taken over by CNJ in the 1920s.

Eric, thank you for the reply. now it definitely is some what beat up and is definitely stamped WNRR, and old. so what you say makes sense, that it was a WARTON & NORTHERN RR. lantern, used after the merger, take over and not discarded. if it ain't broke don't fix it. again thank you.

W&N could also be Wilmington and Northern, between Reading PA and Wilmington DE. later part of Philadelphia and Reading and Reading Company. The portion between Coatesville and Wilmington is still in service.
