In August 1960 (according to the slide mount, anyway) DM&IR 2-8-8-4 is seen in Proctor, MN. It was subsequently displayed in Two Harbors, MN and eventually scrapped, to be replaced on display by 229.

I think it remains a bit of a mystery why this locomotive was scrapped and replaced with a locomotive in restorable condition. IIRC, 221 wasn't in poor shape, just needed some tlc when it was cut up.
