Scroll down. Please no posts about what somebody else should do unless you are the owner. I posted the link for information purposes only. Thanks

Thanks, Mike, for reposting this photo collection; it's been here before, and that was even noted in the following comments.

The other thing that stands out, looking at the comments again, is how some people who are NOT rail enthusiasts still appreciate the engineering and heritage of a large steam locomotive.

We have so much potential to reach an amazing audience. We need to get our acts and stories together (which a great many are doing, thankfully!), and perhaps some Class Is who are willing to admire their own work and heritage. . .

Looks like somebody found a sale on hardware store plumbing fittings.

Totally unsuitable for the purpose.

I do wish the owner would make a public statement about his plans for this beautiful locomotive.

I am confused by what I'm supposed to be seeing....

There seem to be two or three burners mounted at the throat coming up from under the mud ring, and perhaps another coming in through the stoker portion of the firedoor? A lot of flexible steam hose at the bottom of the firedoor and on the right side, and a small manifold at the fireman's seat as well?

Is anybody knowledgeable about what was installed where and how it works as a whole who can describe the installation?

Nice to see the stoker engine is still there in case she goes back to burning Anthracite Culm in the future....that's what those wide Wootten fireboxes are for.

Last I knew, the rest of the stoker was sitting in the weeds up in St. Thomas, Ontario, where the controvertial conversion was done on the grounds of the Elgin County Railway Museum.

Not in the weeds. It is on display on the shop floor.

As has been discussed here numerous times in the past this is a real life classic example of the old adage " a little knowledge is a dangerous thing "".

When Tom Payne bought the 2100 and announced that he intended to convert her to oil he was offered help by a number of experienced people in that field and turned it down saying " I'll do it my way, don't need any advice".

Well the results of his Rube-Goldberg device were disasterous to say the least and now she sits on a siding in the desert.

Sad but true.

Everything but specifics...this isn't helpful.

What was done, and in what way did it fail?

I'm glad nobody was injured with that setup, and I'm glad they didn't have a boiler disaster. Just sayin......
I guess nobody knows what the future holds for her. I wonder if she's even restorable without prohibitively expense boiler and mechanical work.

Someone should remove the golden glow irreplaceable headlight reflector if it isn't already to late. The vanderbilt tender looks odd behind there, almost out of scale.
