Hi....The streetcar 390 project is looking ahead to the time when we will put a set of trucks under the car. 390 had Brill 76e trucks. While we'd like to put a set of those trucks under the car we know they will be either next to impossible to find or even if we do find a set very expensive to get (we've even entertained the idea of using Brill 27g trucks also)

Anyway since 390 will be a display car as close to possible to running condition we are also thinking of having a set fabricated. In my case i'm making up drawings and blueprints so a set can be made. One thing i'm having trouble with is the bolsters. I'm looking for a drawing or some good photos that show the bolster only without the side frames or other parts. If anyone can help please let me know. Ever thought of just using som modern inside braced trucks and placing a faux outside bracing on that mimics the old trucks? We have a couple of different ways to go with this...One would be to actually find a set of Brill frames but most museums that have extra trucks either want a lot of money for them or would prefer what they do have to go under a car that will be in service which is understandable. 390 will be a static car.

We have been in contact with Edmonton Radial Railway in Canada (they have some of the Brill patterns) and we have gotten a quote on some of the parts, but they don't have a pattern for the bolster.

We are also considering fabricating a set. We have wheel sets we just need the frames, journal boxes, bolster and other parts (since its a static car we don't need the brake parts)

We are trying to get it as close to being a running car, but without what could make it run.

I have some of those same drawings mentioned on here but don't have any with actual dimentions. BSM in Baltimore does have blueprints for the Brill 27g and the Brill 76e. I would imagine that RTA in New Orleans would also have blueprints since their cars use them. The Brill 79e in the link above is a whole different animal being a single truck used for Birney's.
