Sadly, No. Handsome boat, isn't it.

The S.S. Keewatin is preserved afloat in static condition at Tower Maine, Blue Star Hwy & Union St., Douglas, MI, USA. She is pictured in "Surviving World Steamships", and is a passenger steamer rather than a riverboat like the Minto.

The S.S. Sicamous is a stern wheel paddleboat, and is under restoration/repair in Penticton, BC, Canada. Another stern wheel paddleboat, the S.S. Moyie, is displayed on dry ground in Kaslo, BC, Canada.

I recieved your photographs last Thursday; very very nice. Should scan great.

I don't know what to make of it; but I would imagine someone with the International Stationary Steam Engine Society could help. I have been in correspondance with them in the past few days regarding how I may be able to best work with the Society; and have not had a chance to ask them yet. I think your pictures, information, and questions would make for a good article the Society's bulletin.

Regarding your question about the Hunslet quarry locomotives that were in Terre Haute, Indiana on the NGDF; J. David here could answer that as well as anyone else. But I think they were in private hands, and have since been scattered:

"Nesta" is owned by a private individual in Chickamauga, GA
"Edward Sholto" is/was stored on a farm in Harvard, IL
"Winifred" is still in the Early Wheels Museum, Terre Haute, IN
"King of The Scarlets" is in Langstaff, ON, Canada
"Michael" is also in Langstaff
"Gertrude" is in the Ontario Science Center, Toronto, ON; and has been sectioned (may get to visit it this year.)

I will keep you posted on what I find out about your beam engine. I have also recieved some more current news on Witte's Marine Yard on Staton Island; there may be more than just two or three hulks there like I was once told; they have just collasped and sunk into the ooze.

Bob, I believe the Minto survived quite a long time out of service on the Arrow Lakes in B.C. I believe it eventually became a floating hazard, as authorities gave it a viking funeral, perhaps as late as the 60's. This information is from memory having read a book many years ago on the B.C. sternwheelers.
