What has happened to the Queen Anne's RR in Lewes, DE? Where is the equipment?

Queen Anne's RR is now defunct. Steam loco No. 3 is stored unserviceable on a siding off Nassau Road west of Lewes, DE. Equipment used was formerly owned by the Wilmington & Western. I believe they also had one or two ex-PRR MP54 m.u. trailers but their whereabouts are unknown.

Not too far from the 0-6-0T are a few stainless lightweights and/or demotored RDCs (window area painted red) that formed the line's dinner train. Still there last time I went by.

The "missing" equipment has several "friendly" places to "hide" on the Delmarva Peninsula, among them the Maryland & Delaware in Federalsburg, The Eastern Shore RR Museum in Parksley, the Eastern Shore RR between Cape Charles and Pocomoke City, etc. There's even a well-hidden siding or two on the former Queen's Anne trackage to Lewes.

The stainless lightwieghts are former New Haven commuter cars. There are 4 of them, plus an ex Amtrak baggage car that is used as a generator car. The dinner train is owned by Boulder Scientific in Mead Colorado and stored on the siding outside Lewes. Anyone need a dinner train?

To whom does #3 belong?? Is it owned by the same owner of the stainless equipment [Boulder Scientific]?

As far as I know, it's owned by a private individual in the Lewes area, the same man that was behind the actual creation of the Queen Anne's RR. At least two parties that show up on this board on a regular basis have attempted to deal with him for purchase or lease of the #3, but with no success.

It is interesting to note that #3 was operated in the early 1990's with the same boiler tubes that were in her belly when she operated at the Wawa and Concordville. Yes folks she was granted extensions for service in the early 1990's on tubes that were installed in the 1960's or maybe even earlier. There was not solid documentation on when they were installed.

That being said it should be noted that #3 has a good solid boiler. She was retubed at QARR after the first season or two. I feel she is an excellent choice for return to service for any future owner.

A former W&C employee mentioned to me that No. 3 was run very sparingly at the Philadelphia Navy Yard and was in "almost new" condition when they purchased it in the early 1960s. Evidently it had been in storage for many years previously. Weldin Stumpf, who was a PRR boilermaker at Wilmington Shops and maintained the Wilmington and Western's steam locomotives during the 1960s and 1970s did much of boiler work on No. 3 while under W&C ownership.

I have heard the same thing. I was told by a Navy Yard employee that #3 was not well liked. I was told that Stumpf did the tube job on #37 in Wilmington but have never heard anything about #3 being retubed. What I find interesting is that Stumpf worked for the PRR but I have always heard that #37 was retubed at the Reading's W&N roundhouse on Beech Street. Stumpf also did a lot of boiler work for Tom Marshall on the Stanley Steamers and live steamers at Yorklyn. The last time I saw him he explained some of the finer points of Stanley boilers.
