I've seen a really nice wheelchair lift used at Strasburg to board passengers with disabilities. It seems unintrusive to the equipment and is portable. Who supplies these lifts and how much do they retail for?

Adaptive Engineering in Calgary, Alberta manufactures them. VIA Rail, and the Ohio Central Railroad have purchased a few from them in the past. We at the Elgin County Railway Museum in St. Thomas, Ontario also purchased one last year with the aid of a grant.
They are BIG bucks! It was in the $10,000 Canadian range which would be about $6,000 U.S..

The Tarantula Train at Fort Worth has a similar
lift. You might contact them for info.

Orange Empire inquired to the supplier to Amtrak when we were planning our Thomas event. I recall that we were quoted something like $8,000 or $10,000. When we said okay, we were told that the delivery time was about 90-120 days. We ended up with a demo loaner the representative arrange for us to borrow from a nearby school district.
