My guess is that those are patterns for lathe change-gears. There would be several varieties of these, in different sizes, on the live end of a big lathe. They could be changed manually for the purpose of changing speeds. I bought a big, twin spindle lathe (approx. 8000 lbs.) from the Copper Range Company in 1975. It had change gears that looked quite similar to the patterns you show.
