Hey y’all!

Hoping someone can help me here. I have poured all over the 090 and 300 catalogs for the roots blower filter on an SW1 and I can’t find it to save my life. It’s driven me bonkers for the last hour and a half too. Could someone help me with my quest?

The reason I am seeking this part is, I did an initial inspection on an SW1 that our organization may be acquiring. It needs some work, nothing too crazy, however this part was the only missing piece.

I appreciate any help that can be offered.

Original circular blower mounted filter was usually 8050846.

Catalog 301, List A378. I doubt EMD has any, it would be a scrap/salvage item now.

An SW1 uses one filter, an NW2 uses two of them. Farr marketed a rectangular replacement unit many years ago. If you want to adapt a currently produced air filter a 6-567 engine requires about 1800 CFM air flow.

I'd suggest doing a little shopping for the adapter to run a Clark "small baggie" filter. I can't remember if that's the EG-1 or EG-2 part number. Both our SW-1s have them. Fairly common and available in an extended life version as well.

I scrapped/parted out an EMD SW9 that had an air filter that used a round long heavy equipment filter you could just purchase at any Napa store.

The SW9 had 2 of these.

A lot of the older locomotives originally used an oil bath filter.

Would you happen to know where you get the filters? I dealt with Clark in the past, but apparently they were bought out by someone else.
