I can think of quite a lot of excursion stuff that would never meet the standards Siemens etc. need to meet for Amtrak, such as flatcars converted into open cars, etc.

Honestly, I have no idea. Perhaps somebody who lives nearby knows something. I have avoided Atlanta for over a decade now having had no reason to travel through there and given the traffic issues not something I'd undertake for no reason.

Considering the attached image from the internet, which shows what the developer has recently slapped over Dave's restoration paint finishes (which were stunningly beautiful), it seems very unlikely they cared enough to save the amputated portion of the carbody. Damn shame.

*sigh*... How many times will we have to see these things happen. If you are someone lucky enough to have collection that you care about in any way... If you don't have a plan for it right now you might as well cut it up yourself. That's a very real possibility if a tragic and unexpected accident were to occur and it's left with no owner, or worse- the family heirs.

M 201, the former Mount Dora Doodlebug car, it's rough...

There's a wood Inteurban car, I forget where it came from...

M-500 the small Edwards car, in near running condition...

M-503 the ex Tallulah falls car, basically a shell/frame...

A Sykes car, forget the history, converted to a baggage trailer, just a shell too...

The frame of a new Edwards Peru car

A wood business car, rough shape, unsure of history...

A damaged White Pass coach car body...

Also several speeders, handcar, velocipede, etc...

Looks like it's going to be a no reserve auction and anything unsold likely goes to scrap, etc...

The Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum "official Railroad Museum for the State of Alabama" is located in Calera; about an hour drive north of this auction. Many of Mr. Kershaw's pieces have historic ties to Alabama. We wished we could acquire all of them. Unfortunately, our museum only has the means to pursue one piece within his collection. We are hoping to preserve the 1923 Edwards Car #500. It operated much of its life here in Central Alabama; running out of Tallassee. If we can acquire it, we plan to offer public rides with it.
If another museum needs assistance with other pieces within the collection, we can attempt to help. Thanks. Mark Walker - Museum President.

Does anyone have news as to how this went? I looked at the site an hour or so beforehand, and couldn't find the locomotive. Did it go in some private sale prior to the auction?

It looks like the winning bidder is in Connecticut - let the speculation begin (LOL)!! Or maybe we'll get an announcement soon from someone. :)

I see Northern Texas Traction Crimson Limited trailer No. 417 was purchased by a buyer from North Carolina for $8k. I am glad to see there was a buyer in the end because it went a while without any bids.

I am looking forward to hearing who acquired it and their plans. I have a lot of info and ephemera from NTT and would be interested in assisting the buyer if I am able.
