It was on November 11, 1963 that Pickering Lbr. Corp. SW-900 102 took a short train of empties from the mill at Standard, Ca out to Mile 51 at Soap Creek Pass Camp. On the return trip to Standard, the crew stopped at the cookhouse in Schoettgen Pass for beans. Meat, ice, milk, eggs, etc. were carried out to the camps in one of Pickering's homemade wooden reefers.

While there were a few more operations later that season, this was the last train of empties.
Shay 33, the woods switcher, later ran to Schoettgen Pass at Mile 28 and spent the Winter there.

The railroad was cut back to the upper end of Lyons Reservoir at a new facility called Junction Landing and the EMD's converted to MU operation. That only operated for two more seasons with the end coming in late 1965.
