Another unique locomotive has been preserved. Are there any other GE SL series locomotives preserved?

What an interesting locomotive, I had no idea there was one in Michigan. I wonder what will happen to the current SW9 (CPMY 7014 nee: GTW 7014). isn’t she currently being leased to the Coopersville and Marne?

The SW9, 7014, will be evaluated for some needed heavier repairs and possible upgrades.

The other operable unit, 3049 (ex Standard Oil #1 GE 50 ton) was recently Rewired and repowerd with NT855 Cummins diesels and has been running some load tests and evaluated for future use.

It sounds like they plan to assign the 125-ton mainly to freight duties, and leave it parked near Standard Lumber (the CPMY's main freight customer) in Walker to save crews the time of bringing the train in from Coopersville. It also provides the railroad with a more reliable backup locomotive for passenger excursions.
