I remember seeing a Union Pacific set with a dome car when I was a kid. You could ride in it at a county fair that I went to. I think there was a coach as well.

I also remember seeing a Norfolk Southern locomotive at an event but I think it was more of a homemade deal.

I never really thought about these much but I suppose they provided great publicity for the railroads.

I distinctly remember as a kid seeing a PRR/Penn Central "steam engine" parade vehicle parked in the the "A" garage lot under 30th Street Station. You could catch a quick glimpse of it when traveling eastbound on the Schuylkill Expressway. I always wondered what became of it.
