Found this on Altamont Press Discussion List: Is the Grangeville line of the Camas Prairie the one with all the twists, turns and trestles? That would seem to make a good scenic run.

That's the one. Camas Prairie 2nd Sub, Grangeville line. Most recent word I've had is that the scrappers are on site but holding while a last-ditch effort is made to save the line, or part of it. Previous failed efforts to do so have all concluded there is neither enough freight traffic left to cover the (considerable) expense of maintaining & operating the line nor enough population/tourist base to form a viable tourist Railroad. A damned shame.

Jeff: I was talking to an aqaintance from Lewiston, Id. about it the other day and he said that the RR runs through the Nez Perce Indian Res. and they are one of the strong oppopnents that are fighting abandonment. I wonder if this complicates the abandonment case, being that the Indians Reservation would have some special legal standing?
