Upon further review, Buick Catalina Gray is not the same color as International Chesapeake Gray. The correct Ditzler/PPG number for that one is 30458, not 30456, and it's more of a yellow-green gray instead.

The Super Sedanette in the last post is most likely Dusty Gray. I might have to pick up a 1947 Buick chip sheet and compare it to the earlier GMC Dusty Gray just to make sure.

Since this gray is somewhat darker than the Pullman 70-113 C&O gray as depicted in the Paint and Lettering Notebook, I'm wondering if that's Chesapeake Gray, also known as International Light Gray, along the bottom of the water tender there...

In black and white, Chesapeake Gray No. 112 is darker than the original Mack Yellow No. 909 on the '51-'54 Ditzler/PPG chart so that works out...

I've seen this color on the yellowbellied Hudsons as well. This alternative example here is a restored 1947 model...

Many will agree there is more than one C&O blue and International Dark Blue does have a fair amount of green added to the mix along with a little bit of maroon. Here are a couple of restorations which seem to match each other quite well...

International Dark Blue may be one of the Wabash blues as well. On the list formerly known as Eric's, an associated number for DuPont 9709 Blue is 41. The next one down, DuPont 5730, is also Bando Blue...

DuPont 5730 can now be confirmed as 3380 GMC Ferrara Blue but hey, we already knew that, right?... LOL

The International code for both 5730 and 3380 is 6150...

Back on Page 24, I made an empty threat to acquire an old International chip sheet but it's here now. Yellow #80 is just a lighter version of Apache Yellow and matches either General Motors WE5905 or WE5906 in the fan deck.

I think International Dark Blue may be a little too light for the C&O but it definitely has a chance on the Wabash. This blue would be the color of the smoke deflector and on the sanded down steel door, it would be the color directly underneath the blue that matches #1189's, GMC Ferrara Blue...

The close-up picture of the samples is really lit up. That "varnish" color looks like Pullman Green to me. LOL

I tuned the blue in this photo of #705 to match the restored 1941 truck up above. I thought it came out pretty well but I'll let you Monticello guys be the judge and jury...

Yeah, I'll stick with 2063 Blue for the Chesapeake and Ohio. DuPont 2063 is actually quite a popular color on the railroads. So far, I have it on the C&O as well as the ATSF, the L&N, and the ACL. 2063 could be Norfolk and Western's Prevler Blue and also an older Nickel Plate blue.

Here's the video from back when the TLE&W guys painted their ex C&O S-4 #5109 in what should be Boatswain Blue and Venetian Yellow. 2063 is normally a reddish blue but we can see it shift more toward green even though there's no green in it...

This is the International Dark Blue chip up against Dodge Truck Equador Blue, which is also United States Air Force State Blue, along with 2063. Below 2063 are Chevy Truck Mariner Blue and Dodge Truck Deep Purple-Blue. International Orange #90 is the same color as Valencia Orange...

I've run across more than one reference that indicates the blackish band on the Baltimore and Ohio scheme was really a very dark black-blue instead of straight black. In this case, we're looking right at 93-035 Blue, the blackest blue in the fleet catalogs.

Interestingly, 3380 GMC Ferrara Blue and 035 Blue line up pretty well with the Brockway blues, 6690 and 6692...

DT8048 is the Chrysler code for DuPont 2063. Here on PaintRef, it is listed as Cleveland Rail Road Blue, New York, Chicago, and St. Louis Rail Road Blue, Roadway's blue, and the Sante Fe's blue...
