Okay, I did say the factory Green Machine green appeared to look darker than the equipment repainted at the shops. Brockway Medium Chrome Green, 93-71703, is WE5769 in the 1972 fan deck...

Then, it happened again. LOL That's #3406 behind the chip as well...

It's always risky attempting one of these things early on Sunday morning so I might try it again later. This is a triple chip match with Brockway Medium Chrome Green, Lemon Yellow, and GMC Seminole Brown...

MP-15 #2780 is definitely a darker green compared to GP-35 #3640 and quite a bit, actually...

That could still be caused by the difference in the type of paint, i.e. an air-dry Dulux enamel vs. an Imron urethane so we'll see.

In the head-to-head dual chip matchup between GMC Venetian Yellow and Dodge Truck Sunset Yellow, it looks like the Venetian Yellow comes out on top...

No worries, there isn't enough of a difference between the Venetian and Sunset Yellows to toss out No. 817 Old Ivory as one of the structure colors... LOL

Geez, I might even have to start looking for a slightly darker Safety Always Yellow, 93-6808 Brockway Medium Chrome Yellow, perhaps? LOL

Did a fairly serious dual match with the fan deck cards. That's WE5769 (71703) on the left, WE5770 (5800) in the middle, and WE5650 (046) on the right...

We're still good with Lemon Yellow so here's that along with Brockway Medium Chrome Green...

Heck, I don't think I can do better than this. Neither image was manipulated in any fashion color-wise and even the sky matches up... LOL

Alrighty then, time for some rampant Reading paint color speculation...

Suppose the Reading Railroad paint shop guys got a good deal from the Mack Truck paint shop guys on some surplus Brockway Chrome Green, DuPont 29258 and 7426L? It may have been a shade lighter than the earlier Brockway Medium Chrome Green used on the new Green Machines but hey, the price was right.

PaintRef believes these two Brockway greens are the same but they're not...

https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/paintdetai ... pont=29258

This color sits right between 6202 and 71703 and seems to be just a bit lighter than the less bluish 1317 so that explanation could be at least somewhat plausible... LOL

These greens are just brutal. 93-7666 was the runner-up on the Tyco model...

To add to any suspected confusion over this color, 29258 was initially also called Medium Chrome Green. Apparently, the switchover between the two Brockway greens occurred between the 1961 and 1962 model years...

What a cool-looking paint scheme!!! LOL If the colors are correct on this Brockway, they would be 005 Black, 29258 Green, and 6808 Yellow...

Hey, if this keeps working out with the Brockway green, every single one of my suspect Reading colors, except 005 Black and 508 White, would be located in that 1954 DuPont catalog. I'd still like to find more good comparison pics, though...
