44782 Yellow is more yellow than 93-94967 Sunset Yellow and less yellow than 93-1290 Venetian Yellow but a bit more saturated than both yellows. Even though this yellow postdates the Reading, I guess it could be used as an average in-between color better toned down with a little added white...

Accurail put Ford Truck Dovetone Gray, 93-72092, on this Center Flow so I'll be keeping that in mind since the actual color for these should be either this one or the slightly darker GMC Polar Gray, 93-71537. The 1967 catalog is making it a little easier to match up some the grays with the fan deck. Dovetone Gray's General Motors code number is WE5629 based on the chip in that one.

WE5718 matches Polar Gray in the 1954 catalog...

http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/paintdetail ... ode=WE5718

I still think Polar Gray has the right look to it color-wise but we'll see...

Ooooo, I just found Colonial Yellow on a 1941 DuPont house paint brochure so hopefully that one will be arriving soon for the New Year. Going by the RGB and CMYK values provided here, this color may actually be pretty close to 1290 Venetian Yellow...

http://modelingthesp.com/Prototype_Equi ... Paint.html

Remember, I do have Oak Leaf Brown and Dark Moss Green on the 1933 Prepared Paint pamphlet which could work for the SP but Colonial Yellow might also be the Reading's building yellow since Bright Straw Yellow may or may not be yellow enough.

The red on the Life-Like Proto 2000 caboose appears to be 066H. I had to clean off my excessive weathering and rub some shiny morning forehead grease on it to get a good match. Western Maryland guys be like, "Hey, that's our color!!!"... LOL

By far, the most common fleet white listed on Eric's compilation is 93-508 White, a.k.a. Duco 254-001. The General Motors code is WE5585 and the Martin-Senour number I have on hand is 8685. Additional code numbers, of which there are many, can be found here...

Merry Christmas from Reading country, everyone!!!

I wouldn’t count on DuPont 508 and 001 (aka “1”) being the same shade of white. I don’t have a a way to compare the two but I wouldn’t assume right off that they are the same. BTW, the 254 prefix is for Duco, not Dulux.

Fixed it, Eric, and thanks!!! Paint colors are a team effort so if I screw anything else up, don't be afraid to let me know. LOL

Both Dulux 88-508 and Duco 254-1 are listed as the white for the Northern Pacific's Loewy scheme so for right now, I'll say they're the same color. I do assume that one of the attributes of a good fleet color is the ability to produce it across multiple paint lines...

Here's one for any Perley A. Thomas experts in the crowd. They used 62201 Seacrest Green as an interior color choice on their school buses back in the '50's and 60's. If, by any small chance, the company called it "Woodfield" like the railroads may have...

Santa brought me a Kalmbach Pullman Paint and Lettering Notebook for Christmas but I'm not sure how this will work out. I think I'd rather see actual photographs of the samples taken under known conditions for comparison. Here's Inca Gold from the fan deck vs. the printed version of Pullman's 70-95. I'll have to try this out in the sun at some point and see what happens...

What the heck, since I'm still feeling a little bit of that holiday spirit this morning, I thought I'd get brave and attempt a triple chip match on this one... LOL

I have yet to officially call Seacrest Green but I don't really see why I shouldn't. Here is #900 at the Port Kennedy/Valley Forge Park station for the Bicentennial in early July of '76...

The station building itself was spruced up and reopened for the celebrations but I'm not sure which entity, the Reading Company or SEPTA, was responsible for that. Here's what it looked like twelve years later so apparently it had been repainted in the white/brown scheme at that time...

If you look carefully, it's not quite as white as everyone's white shirts, however...

The trim on the stone Valley Forge proper station wasn't white, either...

Here's a link to a nicely restored 1951 Chevy Truck in Seacrest Green, BTW...

Meanwhile, to make along story short, back up the main line a little ways...

No. 817 Old Ivory is an exact match for Dulux 93-1157. There's that Colonial Yellow I was looking for but I'm not sure it matches the SP's version. A couple of those other house paint colors might, though...
