Hmmmm ... whatever "success developed over years of working together" wasn't how both sides felt. If the town of Jim Thorpe really believed that, there would have been no 'amusement' tax collection lawsuit in the first place.

Instead, the town thought they would squeeze R&BM / Lehigh Gorge RR / Andy Mueller for some more buck$$$, but instead choked on their bet when Andy raised the ante and shutdown operations in Jim Thorpe and made it clear that he would move the operational base to Tamaqua PA.

Not really much of "working together".

Alternately, you could say that the R&N was welching on their fairly leveled tax bill and stuck the rest of the taxpayers with their bill.

Even though the R&BM / Lehigh Gorge is returning trains to Jim Thorpe, apparently the R&BMRR is not abandoning the 'new' platform agreement to bring passenger trains to Tamaqua. There February 21 article about that in the Reading Eagle website includes a photo of some BM&R RDCs and says similar ones will be used for the Tamaqua trips.

The Port Clinton-based railroad said some trips to the Schuylkill County borough will originate from Reading Outer Station in Muhlenberg Township.

The platform in front of the 146-year-old station will be renovated and is being installed through a public-private partnership between the borough and the railroad. A press release said construction will begin this spring with the first train rides offered in time for Tamaqua’s Summerfest on Fathers’ Day, June 21.

Andy Muller, Jr, CEO of the R&N, met with members of Tamaqua Borough Council, state Sen. David Argall, and his staff before making the announcement Friday morning.

Following Summerfest, R&N said it will host several "Ride and Dine” trips from Reading Outer Station to Tamaqua with its rail diesel cars. The trains will leave Berks County mid-afternoon. Passengers will then detrain at Tamaqua and will dine at a local restaurant.

The railroad said a Santa Claus Special train will be run during the Christmas season. Specific dates are to be announced, but R&N said trains will depart at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and they will be the first Santa trains hosted by Tamaqua in more than two years.
