Hello there,
The Oregon Electric Railway Historical Society is proud to announce that we have received 9 Belgium trams from the Claude Sabot collection. All are at our museum Brooks Oregon. They include 5 work trams, 3 passenger trams and 1 passenger trailer. One of the passenger trams is a PCC. The OERHS must raise $43,000 over the next 3~5 years to pay for the move of the cars from British Columbia, Canada. We believe we can get some of the cars running again after converting them to trolley pole operation. We are accepting donations via paypal on our Brussels Streetcar page http://oerhs.org/oerhs/Brussels.htm

Not all the cars will fit in our current carbarn, so a stop gap measure is to get them under covers we are calling Trolley Koozies which is much better then just tarping the cars. This will have preserve the cars until we can get a second carbarn built. We have started a crowdsourcing fundraising campaign via indegogo: CLICK HERE to support Trolley Koozies to Protect our Brussels Trams http://igg.me/at/belgiumtrams/x/10286642

What is a Trolley Koozy? We have a similar problem and tire replacing tarps every two years or so.

We operate STIB 1069 regularly at National Capital Trolley Museum. The visitors enjoy the contrast with more "modern" traditional double truck cars and PCCs. Congrats to OERHS.

Following the link gets you this:

As you may know, Oregon is noted for rain for most of the year. Anything left outside needs to be covered to protect it. Tarps, however, can cause more damage long term keeping moisture in. The solution is what we call a Trolley Koozie. Basically it is all-weather protection that will drape around the car to protect them form the rain, and allow them to"breathe". The trucking industry calls them "Toaster Covers". This will prevent further deterioration until a suitable building is built within the next 5 years. Here is an example of what it looks like:

Koozies are those insulating sleeves for soda and beer cans.

Similar to a "tea cozy", one of those little knit sweaters for tea pots that keep your tea hot.

(Admittedly, for an American guy to know about this kind of thing probably means he had a grandmother from the UK or Ireland. Mine was from the latter.)
