Are we back to bashing the ALCO Historical & Technical Society? Come on John. I thought we were done with this.

No, just expressing my opinion and the last time I checked, that is legal. The bottom line is I don't agree with the way this project is being managed. I think the group is biting off more than it can chew. Unrealistic.

Like, where are you guys going to get the 100's of thousands of $$$ you will need for all these projects ?
Lets see now: $20-25k for HAVC system, $10-15k for getting the building properly insulated, Office & gift shop furniture $5-10K, Electrical work-General $10-15K, Security system $5K, Crane to lift 1 locomotive:$ 7-10k, transport of 1 locomotive $15-20k. Total $30K for 1 locomotive X 3= $90K so far just for 3 locomotives..Paint 3 locomotives $20-60K Track work: $10-20K Estimated cost just to start $ 200-500K

Paid professional fundraiser, Paid museum director, another $20-40K per year. And don't forget the accountant- another $10K year.

Nothing will happen anytime soon I am sure. It could take 5-10 years to
raise money that the group will need to accomplish all of its desired goals.
Then again, I am sure you know that already.
Opening next Spring? Yea right and with little to show for it.
Get Real! Wait 2 years to give you time to find a sugar daddy.

Oh, I almost forgot: Do you have a 5 year plan ? A budget for this year and the next?

I know this is very old news, but... does anyone know if the N5E caboose made it out alive?

And if so, where it went?

The caboose, diner and locomotive are still at the Children's Museum, but are probably still available. See the Update on Utica & Mohawk Valley NRHS Equipment (9/6/2013) thread for more details about the situation.
