I recall seeing the B&M coach in Tyngsborough over 20 years ago. I recall driving east of the river on a road and turning northward on a side road. it was on the north side of a barn/shed structure, but kind of out in the open, on the westerly side of the road (assuming things were a sort of grid pattern- which they are not). Good luck, maybe it is still around and the situation had improved for another's preservation project. Paint was failing then but present, the car was not heavily rotted. Roof appeared to be basically functioning at the time, but was probably leaking.

I found it, from this thread https://railroad.net/places-in-ma-nh-to ... 73297.html plus google streetview, it is located at 125 Lakeview Ave, Tyngsborough, Massachusetts, it is in fair shape (i.e., not collapsing in on itself) if you close in on it, but is missing all of its windows.

I think the Tyngsborough coach is the same one that I saw when stationed at Fort Devens in
1970 or 1971. The B&M had set it out on a siding at the Army airfield entrance for pickup by the new owner. It was in excellent condition then. He supposedly built his model railroad inside. When he died it was for sale. Evidently there were no takers.

nedsn3,

I suspect that B&M Coach you spotted in Ayer was the one located near a large farmhouse on Route 2A in Lunenburg for many years. It was used to house a model railroad by its owner.

Unfortunately, after the owner moved and sold the property, the coach quickly deteriorated. A deal for its preservation fell through and it was unceremoniously scrapped - including the trucks, hardware, etc.

I fear the same fate for the Tyngsboro coach, eventually.

That said, I hope the owner is willing to consider 1 dollar sale h

Not quite 1 dollar, but the seller has gone down more than 50% current listed price as of 05/15/2024 is $4,900.00

Thanks Ed, the cobwebs of my old mind are telling me that you are correct. Too bad it should have been saved like many other things should have been
.
