Playing the game Railroader recently, I cam across a mod you can download for the game that can bring in new/better whistles to use. One of them I saw was listed as "United States Potash Co. Boilertube 6 chime". I know of boiler tube/Casey Jones whistles, but I've never heard of such a whistle before. Was/is there such a whistle? If there was/is, does anyone have audio of it in use?

I'm pretty sure I'm correct, but I want to make sure. Can anyone confirm if this is a Canadian Pacific 5 chime whistle being used in this video? If it isn't, can you please tell me what it is?

OK. Can someone please help clear this up? Very recently, Oregon, Pacific & Eastern [Yreka Western] #19 was fired up and pulled a couple of coaches around Age of Steam Roundhouse. It appears that she was wearing a special whistle from a small fallen flag. I've seen a few sources say that she was wearing a Montour 3 chime, but one source says that it was a Montour 6 inch Crosby 3 chime.

So, here's the question I'm hoping someone can help answer. Is the whistle that #19 was using a Montour shop-built 3 chime, or was she using a 6" Crosby 3 chime used by the Montour Railroad?

The whistle on the #19 at Age of Steam Roundhouse is an original Crosby 3-chime that came with the first order of ALCO, 2-8-2 locomotives, Montour ordered in 1915. This particular whistle was removed from one of those Mikado's as they were being scrapped and placed on the Montour Junction Shop powerhouse. After the powerhouse was shutdown in the early 1960's, the current Superintendent had it removed for a display in his office. Upon his retirement he took it as a family memento, thus saving this rare whistle to be enjoyed by all that hear it today.
