Is this the dieselized locomotive that was near Snoqualmie Pass in WA? I recall seeing the owners stripped the body down and rebuilt the chassis (from found aerials, many years ago).

Yes. A diesel engine replaced the square firebox boiler, steam engine & cistern. The engine bed and drive train were retained however the frame has been (it is my understanding) replaced twice. So they have the beginnings of a Class A. Information on a correct cistern exists (A-313) but A-804 used a different (bigger) engine than A-313.

Still existing somewhere, or lost to scrap?

Acquired by the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad to be restored. A project that has just begun.

A few detail changes based upon photo.

18 Ton Class A Climax with Square Firebox Boiler based upon photos, notes and sketches of Walt Casler and the Frame, Engine & Cistern of A-313. Should be considered an educated best estimate.
