Wow, the flags on the Centuries appear to be very Scarlet-like as well and I'm now looking at Swamp Holly Orange as the contrasting safety color...

I don't know about you guys but I've been having a little trouble believing Milwaukee Red and Lehigh Valley Tuscan Red are the same color since on the MILW, it tends to appear much brighter and redder in many photos like here on MILW #30, a 1947 Dodge hi-railer that apparently still remains in its original Milwaukee paint job...

Another thing I've been having a little trouble with is conflating DuPont 64529 Chevy Truck Cape Maroon and 81371 Dodge Truck Rio Maroon. I'm not sure exactly why this is happening but maybe because they're so very close to each other.

Now, if we're all remembering right, 5505 is the listed DuPont code for both the Pennsy's sixties Tuscan Red and the modern Twin Cities & Western's maroon.

You guys don't know how happy and relieved I am that I found this picture and was able to do a fairly positive dual chip match with it. Pretty much confirms we're on the right track now with the lighter maroons. If I would make the chips slightly darker like it seems I should, then it could be Cape Maroon instead of Rio Maroon...

Chevy Cape Maroon is the closest match to the PRR's dark tuscan red in the Pullman Notebook while the Soo Line maroon compares more favorably with either Dodge Truck Rio Maroon or even Ford Monsoon Maroon. There might be a bit of paint color intrigue developing here since, the way it looks to me, the TC&W's combo is supposed to represent the Soo's... LOL

Anyway, the idea there was to demonstrate the actual difference between the Lehigh Valley and the final Pennsylvania Tuscan Reds which are obviously not the same color, especially if the LV's version is documented to be identical to Milwaukee Red.

Now here's some solid evidence LV #112 was repainted into the standard postwar scheme. The Sealing Wax/Socony Red almost appears like it's still drying...

That's actually a good thing since I was a bit worried about how faded the paint in the older picture might be so I'll stick with Scarlet and Croydon Cream. In the big book full of Imron, Scarlet is officially listed as General Motors WE5507 but like I said, WE5872 is an excellent match as well.

The lettering on the prewar paint job seems to have eroded off the locomotives before color film gained wider usage but it definitely seems to be a darker yellow compared to the cream. Either the Scarlet bled into the cream over time or that color was same 014 Imitation Gold as was used later.

GMC Sea Bubble Gray is also a Kroger color so that serves as a decent alternative example of that one. Looks about right...
