Western Maryland 3010 (Chessie 940940) has been acquired for preservation and restoration by a friend of mine.

The car is in fairly decent shape but needs a set of trucks. If you know of any, or another car with trucks that are available for purchase, I would appreciate a heads-up.

Some of the WWII troop kitchen cars ended up on the Alaska RR. Twenty years ago when I was up there, several were incorporated into what I believe was temporary visitors lodging at Denali National Park, complete with their Allied trucks. I'm sure the lodging has been replaced by now. Does anyone know what happened to the trucks? For that matter, any chance the railroad still has some under work equipment?

There a number of troop sleepers and kitchen cars still in MOW service but the trucks have been replaced with Bettendorf or Barber type trucks. All of the allied trucks I've seen have been under display cars. There are even more bodies on the ground in other uses but they have been stripped of all running gear. Besides the shipping south would be big $$$

There's not exactly an abundance of Allied Full Cushion Trucks around. Any that still exist are more than likely to be still under a troop sleeper. Good luck.

I know none of the actual relevant details, but a troop sleeper with a good pair of Allied Full Cushions was one of the pieces of Memphis Transportation Museum stock stranded just west of Germantown Road when the Cordova branch was shut down. This was 'removed' when construction of the Greenway trail reached that point. It is at least possible that the trucks survived this.

Saw some box cars with those trucks on the Mount Rainier Railroad in Elbe, Washington. Not sure if they have extra trucks or if the cars are for sale.
