I enjoyed the passenger trains on the Maine Eastern several times over the last 10 years. The schedule is actually about 15 minutes faster than the Maine Central did it in its final year (1959).

I have noticed that the passenger counts were lower the last few years except for the Rockland Lobsterfest weekend. Sadly, there was not a connection possible between Amtrak's Downeaster and the ME at Brunswick.

If you have the opportunity to ride this train in this last month, do it! Good time keeping, great scenery and well maintained equipment make this a train the way it should be on many branch lines/short turns. Perhaps the Downeaster could be extended to Rockland to maintain service on this line, even if only seasonally?

It is to my understanding that the M&E doesnt own any of this equipment but it is leased to them,owner was RRPX

I have tickets for October 4th which will be my fourth trip.

If I remember correctly RRPX is owned by the president of the M&E, Wes Weis.
