I noticed an article in FLIMSIES today that states that the old Grand Trunk Western coal dock in Grand Haven, Michigan is going to be stabilized. The old concrete structure serves as a "background" to various pieces of railroad rolling stock there, including Pere Marquette 2-8-4 #1223. One thing missing from the GTW tipple is the steelwork that enabled the dock to actually service steam locomotive tenders. I know that a number of these concrete coal docks remain extant, but I wonder just how many have a part (or perhaps even all) of the original steel work still in place?

That is good to hear. I know that they have been trying to raise the funds for that for a few years now. I noticed today when I drove past it that they had a few banners hanging off the side. I could not read them for fear of running over tourists and all the traffic, but I am guessing they were about the good news.
