This photo made my GTW-5629 nerve twitch. A similar looking Pacific that is also no longer with us.

There's a world of emotion in the expressions, stance, and poses of the people here. That is a story I fear is long lost, but which would have been well worth preserving.

Nice photo at a good price, if one doesn't mind the family lineup obscuring the crosshead area. But while similar in appearance to GTW 5629, Erie 2744 (class K-4B) was a Baldwin product (1923, rebuilt 1929 -- note the round builder's plate). 5629 came from Alco in 1924. Granted, the GTW K-4-b class, 5632-34, came from Baldwin instead, so I suppose both the GTW and Erie K-4 classes were spinoffs from the USRA light Pacific design, though neither were built under USRA auspices.

May I interject, Maine Central 470 is a May, 1924, product of American Loco Works. They are exceptional close in appearance.

My guess is perhaps a flood light that is behind the engine and just seems to be a part of it. The photo seems to be at an engine terminal or roundhouse, so that could be possible.

If you might be interested in having this image be seen by a lot of people in Kent, OH, the former Erie (A&GW) depot is a Pufferbelly Restaurant that has a railroad-themed decorating scheme. There are many photos and drawings of locomotives and trains on the walls, with a decided lack of much from Kent itself. I'm guessing that the management of the restaurant would certainly entertain a donation/sale of a copy of that photo, since it is of an Erie loco, taken in Kent.
