That is good to know that the boiler still exists.

What do you have on the B&O X-45 in Wooster and the ex CR Big Hook now down in New Castle, PA?

Sometime before 1995 (when I joined) a crane that belonged to A.O. Smith was deaccessed and then later scrapped from Mid-Continent RHS in North Freedom, WI. These are the only facts I know though there is always plenty of hearsay. mld

Believe the MC AO Smith was a 30 ton, a very worn out but versatile 30 tonner. MC I think also scrapped out a lighter pulp wood steam crane from the old Consolidated Papers in Wi Rapids. I couldn't find it on the list of equipment at MC. Have not been down to the end to see what exists down there for some time. Helped replace a flue on the AO Smith with Dave Wantz officiating the repair and then worked with the state boiler inspector doing the hydro and inspection many moons ago. The AO Smith was pretty worn from what I remember, but a good operator could still do a honest days work with it. I admire a good operator on these old cranes. Poetry in motion when done right. Regards, John.

About a month ago a contact checked around Wooster, OH to see if he could find the Baltimore & Ohio #X-45 steam wrecker. He found no trace of it. Anybody know what happened to it?
