Newenglandrailfans.com is the place to talk about 501. They have 26 pages of new discussion. I'd post the link but I'm on my phone and it would go to the mobile version. The thread is under "General Discussion." It gets pretty heated in some spots, some posts have been deleted.

You're telling me! While some of the information from he-who-shall-not-be-named is dubious at best, the insight into the inner workings of the project is fascinating. It is an even better case study into project management...

I fear that in my primary ego I have had some past familiarity with the engine in question. That thread does at least show how civil and considerate RYPN's participants are even when we are discussing... Oh, never mind.

Aye, what's with the classic (I think) British Overseas Airway Corporation shirt?

Car 57 has more structural integrity than the Comet I.....

Mike -

Good to finally see the face (and hands) behind all that great effort on Car 57!

This thread should have a "no picture/no post" rule. :-)

I've noticed that some of the "big wigs", or people who post very frequently, are absent from this thread. While there's been tremendous participation from many other people, I'm a little bummed to not see pictures to go with the 1000+ posts that some people have on here.

BigJim -

Well, I too would like to see a photo of some of the frequent posters here, but this is a voluntary thread. If someone doesn't want to post a photo, I feel it is a free country and they are well within their rights not to do so. I am just happy to see photos of those who HAVE posted, whether a frequent poster or a "newbie".

Enjoy the day!

Don't get me wrong, I agree with all of that. And like I said, I'm thrilled with the participation so far.

Maybe someone could take this and come up with an RYPN digital "yearbook" format, flipping pages to see photos, indexes, etc. :)
