I believe that Strasburg was working on her lead and trailing trucks, the last I heard is that they are hoping for a partial season this year. Andy should try to get her out ASAP since it sounds like 3254 at nearby Steamtown is out of service or will be confined to the yard limits.

I believe that the trailing truck has received new tires and roller bearings along with new tires being cast for the lead truck along with new axles.

Are you insinuating that 425 might be used in Steamtown this year?

No, I am saying that 425 may be the only game in town. Steamtown patrons may be willing to travel a bit farther and pay a bit more, and that means profit for Andy M, and continued operation of 425.

Steamtown has hosted 425 in the past, but I haven't heard that there will be a return. I imagine they will be using historic diesels exclusively.

Of course, but you are also generally a 2-3 hour ride one way from the Scranton area, depending on where patrons are coming from. That can be a long day for people with small children.

Steamtown will still be providing several mainline excursions, just not with steam power. I believe that the R&N also provides diesel excursions.

Back on topic.

2 hours, or there abouts. I live near Scranton, and I have to drive through Strasburg to get to my university in Delaware. Strasburg is awesome, but it can hardly be consider in the same "town" as Steamtown and the R&N. Now, if you guys were to ship big ole #90 up to Scranton, we might consider including you...

Wait...how do you have to drive from Scranton, down to the west through Strasburg, to get to a university in Delaware, back to the east? I can understand maybe having to drive through "Stroudsburg" or "East Stroudsburg", but I can't see a logical reason why you'd have to go that far out of your way...

Long drives on the highway bother me, so I found an alternative route. If you get on route 869 in Strasburg and drive south for about an hour, you end up in Newark, DE, which is where University of Delaware (my school) is. It takes about the same amount of time as the highway route (33, 22, Turnpike, Blue Route, 95) and it's a lot easier to stop if you need to. Plus, I get to drive right by Strasburg and I always end up stopping for awhile hahah.

The route, in a nutshell for anyone who's interested, is 33 to 22, 22 to 222, 222 to 30, 30 to 869.

You do mean Route 896, right?

Rodney A and F dorms have windows overlooking the B&O Royal Blue route, but F is where they start blowing for the Main Street crossing. Some of the Dickinson dorms overlook the main, too.

If you're in shape, you can make it to the W&W by bicycle in about 45-50 minutes.

As an alternative to " The Great Circle Route ", I suggest US 222 to PA 100 from
the Allentown area. You can bypass all the big towns, yet have a fairly direct route through some pretty country. You can angle west of Wilmington, down Paper Mill Road and Delaware Rt. 7, toward Newark. Just an alternative to the Reading, Ephrata, Lancaster
tourist traffic and PA / Del 896, the Long and Winding Road, a cow path in PA, an expressway in Delaware...;-)
