I wish someone had color photos of the 722 running on the Oct.

That last picture of the 3 diesels with the MP54 in tow, on on the Octoraro, looks like Montchanin De, with Rockland Road in the background....

The 8408 is sandwiched by the Octoraro's ex TP&W Alco and W&W's Alco S-2, #3.

My first ride behind a steam engine was on the W&W in June of 1985 and #98 did the honors. I remember their "graveyard" and have a very similar photo of it and the 113.

That shot of 40 on this page, is just north of Upper Mountain Road in Buckingham...

In the late 1980's, the bank/super elevation on that curve was so bad that end doors would slam shut without warning and they even lost the BBQ Grill off the back deck of the Caboose "Closet Squirrel", despite its being tied down.

The shot you have listed as "Perils of Paulines" trestle is actually of 40 on the bridge just south of Rushland Station.

I'm not so sure about that. Note the power and telephone cables parallel to the railroad. Pauline's trestle has these while Rushland's does not - at least as of recent. The photo shows 3 spans. I can't remember if Pauline's had 3 spans or two. Obviously if it's two, then you are correct, and this is Rushland.

You may be right!.... It's odd since it looks as though there is no curvature to the train or bridge at all... Pauline's has 4 spans, if I'm not mistaken.... Rushland does have power lines that cross the Neshaminy on the East side of the bridge, sag pretty low too but most crop their photos (3/4 angle shots) to keep them out....see this photo, top left corner:

It's one of those things that you have to find a photo where the photographer didn't care about those power lines and took a photo, like the one of #40 in orange, from the same spot.

Most shots at Rushland are taken at a point where the power lines are just behind or above the photographer or they are 3/4 angle shots.

I still go for Rushland over New Hope/Pauline's. Both 40 and the coaches are facing in a straight line...the sun hits both the front of 40 and the coach at exactly the same angle, which wouldn't be possible on the bridge in New Hope that curves sharply to the West after crossing Ferry Street....particularly in the late fall/early winter when this photo in question was taken...

Also, missing in the background are the homes that line Ferry Street and the hill they sit on.
