Saturday, December 17th

On Saturday, George Peck will lead a crew continuing work on the new switch east of Andrew's lane. Plans are to remove the existing rails and ties and inserting new switch timbers. He will start at 9am at Mt. Tremper Station.

In Kingston, Earl Pardini will open Cornell Street at 9:30am in preparation for train service to begin at 1pm. Extra volunteers can work on sealing bridge timber notches and drilling bolt holes for the spacer beams.

Saturday, December 17th

On Saturday, George Peck, Dave Heick and Bill Brosnan began breaking the rails where the new switch will be installed at MP 24.75.

In Kingston, Earl Pardini, Mark Glaser and Steve Gollow inserted and spiked four ties on the grade between Albany Avenue and Chandler Drive on Saturday morning.

Also in Kingston, Holiday Train crew were Walt Otto, engineer, Ray Farrell, conductor, Steve Gollow and Mark Glaser flaggers. Ticket agents: Pat Smalley, Jim Burke, assisted by Peter Fluchere. Outstanding patronage resulted in an all time revenue high for single day Kingston operation.

Music on Saturday's train provided by Earl and Mimi Pardini and Neil and Kathy Isabelle. Santa and Mrs. Claus were Mr. Mrs. Dakin Morehouse, Car attendant was Alex Sorenson. George Bain installed a nicely crafted sign on the loading platform labeled with the name of the station and giving mileages to both Phonecia and the Riverline.


Sunday, December 18th

On Sunday, George Peck finished removing the existing rails at MP 24.75. Except for old tie removal, the ground is now ready for the new switch.

In Kingston, Earl Pardini, Mark Glaser, John Patane and Steve Gollow inserted and spiked two ties near the O&W switch.

Sunday's Kingston Holiday Train carried a full compliment of passengers on all scheduled runs. The crew included John Patane, engineer; Walt Otto, conductor, Steve Gollow, Tony Gambino, and Mark Glaser, flagmen. Musicians; Earl and Mimi Pardini, Neil and Kathy Isabelle and several other friends of the railroad. Car attendant was Alex Sorenson. Sharing ticket agent duties were; Pat Smalley and Bruce Devorkin. Earl Pardini was interviewed by Cable News Six. John Patane was interviewed by a railroad historical doumentary crew.

At Cornell Street yard Earl Pardini assisted Ernie Klopping in the removal of the (unrestored) Fairmont tamper's two cylinder Detroit diesel engine for rebuilding.

Monday, December 26th

In the morning, Earl Pardini, Mark Glaser, Steve Gollow and John Patane replaced, tamped and spiked three ties between Albany Avenue and Chandler Drive.

In the afternoon, Earl Pardini was engineer on the Kingston train with Walt Otto Conductor, Steve Gollow, Mark Glaser and Anthony Bocchino flaggers. Car attendents were Dave Hilliard and Mimi Pardini. Ticket agents were Peter Fluchere, Pat Smalley and George Bain. The train was well attended, and the weather cooperated.

On Saturday, George Peck will lead a crew continuing work on the new switch east of Andrew's lane. Plans are to remove the existing ties and inserting new switch timbers. He will start at 9am at the crossing at Andrew's Lane (MP 24.88).

In Kingston, Earl Pardini will open Cornell Street at 9:00am in preparation for track work. They plan to insert ties in various places on the line Saturday.

Saturday, December 31st.

At Andrew's Lane, George Peck, Art Vogel, Bill Brosnan and Ernie Hunt removed ties at the site of the installion of the new siding, then graded the area and started laying new ties for the new switch. 7 nine foot ties were laid out.

In Kingston, Earl Pardini led a crew including John Patane, Will Willsey, Ray Farrell, and Steve Gollow and replaced 22 ties west of Washington Avenue, and spiked up 12 of them.

Sunday, January 1st

On Sunday, Earl Pardini, Steve Gollow, Ray Farrell, Will Willsey, and Walt Otto finished spiking up the ties they inserted the day before.

Later in Kingston, we ran our January 1st train which was nearly full for all four runs. Walt Otto was Engineer, Ray Farrell was conductor, Steve Gollow and Will Willsey were flagmen along with Tony Bocchino, Earl and Mimi Pardini and Alex Sorenson were car attendents, and Peter Fluchere was ticket agent.

At Andrew's Lane, George Peck continued smoothing out the new switch area and located 7 more ties, for a total of 14 so far. 54 more to go.

On Monday, John Patane was engineer, John Watson, Conductor, Flagmen were Mark Glaser and Steve Gollow, Car attendents were Mimi Pardini, Pat Smalley, and Ticket Agent was Thom Johnson.
