@cvjrr, good for you!

@Bob, that $165 includes AREMA subgrade. Your mileage may vary ...

Yes it is, that is the County owned Chester Branch (former DL&W track).

I'm guessing that trains don't normally run on that branch?

In another consideration, the Illinois Railway Museum has said that the budget for acquisition of any new display artifact must include $100 per foot of siding space to be constructed. Inflation may have pushed that to $125 by now. But the philosophy is the same.

And the standard of track for a siding upon which a couple old cars may be switched or moved once or twice a year--or never--is decidedly different from the standard of track for 286,000-pound freight cars rolling in weekly or a couple times a week, and getting loaded or unloaded.

Mr. Weaver,

How far down does that track actually extend? Does it tie into the existing yard at all or is it competely stand alone?

Thanks,
Kevin O

Looks like some nice 115 or 119; can any of the SRC people tell us a bit more about the specifications of this track?

@Kevin, it ties in to the North Yard lead at the other end.

@Howard, 100 lbs on No. 1 treated oak with #3-4 ballast and AREMA sub-base.
