It is wonderful to see five Chicago Aurora & Elgin cars preserved at this museum. I remember the CA&E well.

I guess that means you missed all the festivities last July 4 when IRM had wood AND steel CAE cars running all weekend.
Expect more for this July 4 as the electric Dept honors the memory of Julie Johnson and her contributions to the museum collection.

I like IRM, I really do. But I also like that Fox River is there, doing their thing, very focused collection, original rail line, etc. That little museum has a lot of heart.

As a member of both IRM and Fox River museums, I am impressed by the river scenery of the ride, also their involvement with the community and the forest preserve district to now have the southern terminus at the picnic grounds in Coleman Grove. One benefit of membership is the newsletter which reflects the historic nature and the interaction with the local community. I would volunteer again as son Olin & I did years ago but for splitting my time including the 2 B&M passenger cars (limited) and as curator of the Pullman Library at IRM to supply document copies and to continue improving the collection. Plan your weekend to visit both, keeping in mind the limited hours at Fox River Trolly Museum.
Sincerely, Ted Anderson
