Well, if this is the first time it has been rolled out in 20 months, then it has to be Calgary.

What was the occasion for this steam-up? Last year, the "poor economy" was blamed for shelving the steam program temporarily. Have things improved that much for the Railroad?

There is nothing on the CPR website about any scheduled operation. Maybe they are either a little behind on the website or just planning on doing some shakedown trips before making anything official.

It's important to mention that CPR is one of only two major railroads in North America with ANY steam program of their own. Hat's off to them for making the effort to do so. Now if we can just convince them to bring her to Scranton in late June.

Nice photos of JJ setting the safety valves. For those not in the know the devices being attached "gag" the two lower valves so that the upper limit valve can be set. Once that one is set the next valve, pressure wise, is set by removing the gag and then the last valve, the lower pressure valve. The gags being used are industry standard.

The 3751 has Coale safety valves and these will not accept a Gag. The coale valve then have be cranked down to keep the lower safety from releasing during setting of the upper pressure valve. This takes longer than using a gag.

We have to sit on top of the boiler as well because the safeties can not be reached from the running board.
