OERM and IRM are pleased to announce a cooperative agreement that will provide for the restoration of a significant piece of Los Angeles transit history, and help to grow IRM's national collection of trolley coaches.

Over a five-year period, the IRM Trolley Coach Department will restore OERM's LATL 8002, the only surviving Los Angeles trolley coach, to full operating condition. In exchange for this work, OERM will donate two San Francisco and two Seattle coaches to IRM.

The official press release is now posted on the OERM website: http://www.oerm.org/pdf/Trolley%20Coach ... %20rev.pdf

Very nice. Glad to see some trolley-coaches preserved. There are scant few groups preserving them. Especially San Francisco coaches, which I'm particularly partial to.

That's great news! It's good to see a deal like this where both museums (and a trucking company) will benefit. Which begs the question: If LATL 8002 is going to be restored to operable condition, will OERM string up some trolley coach wire to run it?

The first coach (Seattle Twin Coasch 933) arrived at IRM Sunday afternoon, was unloaded and inspected, and backed itself into the barn under its own power less than 5 hrs after it rolled in the back gate.
