Add one more MRS1 to the Chopping block. Through out the Month of December 2008 less than 30 days ago Cycle Systems of Roanoke Scrapped it's last MRS1 that had been stored on site in Roanoke (Along side of I-581) as well the remains of two 25ton GE switches and a GP-30 found there fate all four gone now forever.

I don't think these were cut up with the permission of HRM. They were supposed to be sold and shipped off site and this created some issues as I understand. The 244's apparently did go to the D-L didn't they? We had a similar issue that we were able to stop when we made some equipment available to a major museum who then did not ship the cars out and then later sent a scrap person out to cut them up.

I was under the impression that it was clear that these engines were available for some time. I know at least one group expressed interest and then did not follow through. I think the de-motored RDCs are available from HRM, probably should inquire with them if these can be used by someone out there.

In general, if you know someone out there has a piece that your group is interested in, even if only for parts, you should let them know so that you can be notified.
