With both New York, Susquehanna & Western Utica NY based engines down, the NYS&W looked to neighboring road, Mohawk, Adirondack & Northern, for assistance. The MA&N loaned the Susquehanna No. 2456, an ALCo C425 built in October 1964 for the Erie-Lackawanna.

NYS&W's Utica Branch was once operated by the E-L and 2456 was a veteran of this line. So it was a homecoming of sorts.

This video shows some highlights of 2456's first day back on its old stomping grounds:

This must have been interesting in coordinating the move with CSX since the only crossover to get from the northside to the southside of the CSX main is on the east side of Utica. Was it done by NYSW crews that are qualified ont he CSX mainline so they wouldn't have to have CSX call and extra crew just to get the locomotive where to needed to be?

MA&N has trackage rights over CSX from Utica-Rome (CP235-248) which they operate using their own crews. I suspect 2456 was brought over to the NYS&W yard lead (off Track 2 at CP238) in that way, either coming back from a Rome run or by a special move from CP235.

MA&N usually accesses CSX Track 1 from their lead at CP238 but I've seen them coming back from Rome on Track 2 on occasion.
