UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE#2: It's been confirmed that the cars available ARE NOT the cars that were formerly mentioned/described below, BUT instead are a caboose and boxcar that were relocated to a now-closed "water park", Joliet's "Splash Station Waterpark," located at 2780 US Rt. 6, Joliet, IL southwest of the city. A year ago: https://www.shawlocal.com/the-herald-ne ... in-joliet/ It's been stated elsewhere online that this caboose is EJ&E 539. Boxcar is 62069. 2011 photos: https://mononman.rrpicturearchives.net/ ... ?id=229793 https://mononman.rrpicturearchives.net/ ... ?id=625358 This is as close as the Google Street View car could get in 2021: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ShaYnuB89djhHcxj8 UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE: Apparently the Plainfield Historical Society, under whose custody/ownership these two cars fall, WAS NOT AWARE of this auction, and are scrambling as I type to contact the Joliet Park District and correct this matter, as they have NO plans to deaccession the cars, and had made plans for restoration of the caboose! These two cars are currently for bid on GovDeals, both of EJ&E heritage.
