The usual "I have no financial involvement in this deal" disclaimer--though at this point, who cares? https://www.govdeals.com/en/asset/34/15785 Near Platteville, Colorado. Quote: Steel Rail, 1 Lot QTY 75 - ~39ft Rail Labeled Colorado 1929 90RA-A Dimensions as: HT – 5 ½” BW – 5 3/16” HW – 2 5/8” W – 5/8” HD – 1 ¼” FD – 3 ¼” BD – 1” E – 2 ¼” QTY 33 – 20ft - 40ft No Label HT - 7” BW - 6” HW - 3.25” FD- 4” Or, in our lingo, 75 39-foot sections of Colorado Rail 90-pound rail and some random pieces of 125-pound rail. Investigation shows that this was rail used as industrial siding in a generating station and substation along a now-abandoned section of a secondary Union Pacific line between Denver and La Salle (near Greeley), a line in part now railbanked by Denver's RTD transit agency. Xcel Energy apparently owns/owned some of the rail line reaching up to its plant in the final days, and there could be much more rail to come. I know rail museums are facing a shortage of authentic lighter jointed rail these days, so....... |

I'll bet the power plant in question is the former Fort Saint Vrain nuclear power plant, Colorado's only NPP, which was only open for a few years and was converted to gas. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Sain ... ower_Plant It was an expensive debacle for the owner, the former Public Service company, now xcel energy. |
