Safety Officer (Rail)
(Salary Commensurate with Experience)

In this critical role, the Safety officer (Rail) will help develop and implement safety and environmental programs for Rail Transportation, Devleopment and the Contract Operator; conduct and supervise safety classes and training; coordinate with Rail Transportation and Development to prepare annual System Safety Program Plan updates; review current safety practices of contractors, consultants, construction teams etc; oversee independent safety compliance inspections and audits; review injury and illness prevention programs and safety practices; and other duties assigned.

Must have sufficient full-time experience in industrial, construction, and/or environmental safety including sufficient experience in the railroad industry. Must be proficient in Railroad General Code of Operations, Maintenance of Way Book of Rules, and other applicable rules and regulatiosn. Must be computer literate. Bachelor's degree and prior direct Clas I freight or commuter rail safety experience desirable. Must qualify on Caltrain Standard Procedures for Maintenance and Track Construction.
