Curious - what is the new more modern equipment that will replace the 5-Ton Burro Crane? Glad to hear it found a home and can continue its career.

And what might be in store for the former Pennsylvania Railroad Industrial Works steam crane? If made operable, I have pondered if Strasburg would benefit in a manner similar to that of the operation and display of the steam crane at the Nevada Northern.

Also wondered why it sits out of sight at Leaman Place Junction as it could be considered an attractive display piece, either in the yard, or perhaps even on loan to the Museum across the street?

For the record, the crane in question has now been acquired by the nearby Stewartstown Railroad.

No plans at the moment. The CAPEX to restore it is prohibitive.


It's getting pretty ratty and it was always in the way in E. Strasburg Yard. We like it too, but if we can't present it in an attractive fashion, then it has to be out of the way until better days smile upon it.

Safe to assume this is a vehicle with rubber tires? If so, does it have a provision to ride the rails or does it simply operate like a tractor?

What was the date of the move, if I might ask?

And, might you recall the date approximately when the larger steam crane was moved to Leaman Place?

The Pettibone has no high-rail provisions.

I can't recall when Stewartstown came by for the Burro - April?

The steam crane went to LPY last year.
