<P>L.W. "Schmitty" Schmidt passed away this past week in San Antonio, Texas. The funeral is scheduled for 9:00 am Tuesday morning. Schmitty did a lot of work for streetcar preservation and restoration. He was part of the startup crew for McKinney Avenue Transit in Dallas, and he helped with the restoration of San Antonio Car 300, currently in service in Astoria, OR. <p>Thank you, Schmitty, you will be missed. <br> <br>Der HERR ist mein Hirte, mir wird nichts mangeln. Er weidet mich auf einer grünen Aue und führet mich zum frischen Wasser. Er erquicket meine Seele. Er führet mich auf rechter Straße um seines Namens willen. Und ob ich schon wanderte im finstern Tal, fürchte ich kein Unglück; denn du bist bei mir, dein Stecken und Stab trösten mich.<br>Du bereitest vor mir einen Tisch im Angesicht meiner Feinde. Du salbest mein<br>Haupt mit Öl und schenkest mir voll ein.<br>Gutes und Barmherzigkeit werden mir folgen mein Leben lang, und ich werde bleiben<br>im Hause des HERRN immerdar. <br><br>

<P>C'est triste a lire que M. Schmitt est mort. Malhuereusement, je ne pas lire l'allemand.<br>La paragraphe en allemand, est que cest la Psaume 23e? <p>(I am sorry to learn of Mr. Schmitt's death. Unfortunately, I cannot read German. Is the German paragraph the 23rd Psalm?)<p>It was a nice tribute to a good man, but I was curious. <br>

<P>Yes, 23rd Psalm. San Antonio is near the heart of the Texas German community, of which Schmitty was one.<br>
