I am an attorney in Ohio and have run across a real estate title problem involving The New York, Chicago, and St. Louis Railroad Company back in the year 1924. How do I determine whether there is currently in existence a successor to this company?

tpotts@fgks-law.com |

The New York, Chicago, and St. Louis Railroad Company, better known as the Nickel Plate was absorbed by the Norfolk and Western Railway Company on 16 October, 1964. The Norfolk and Western merged with the Southern Railway System on 1 June, 1982 to form today's Norfolk Southern Corporation. Norfolk Southern's headquarters are in Norfolk, Virginia, and I'm sure their real estate department will be able to assist you. Good luck.

kevingillespie@usa.net |
