I recently saw a picture of EL SDP45 # 3639 at the Virginia Mus. of Transportation, and
I noticed a black EMD cab unit directly behind it. The unit appears to be an E- unit, but also appears to have
a freight pilot. Can anyone enlighten me as to what engine this is?
Thanks in advnace,
Phil
ELRRco@AOL.com
ELRRco@AOL.com |

The only E unit in the collection is Wabash E-8A #1009, which is also signifigant for bearing EMD serial number 10,000. I assume that the black paint was some sort of primer. The last time I saw her she had a normal pilot.

kevingillespie@usa.net |

The locomotive lists I've seen say that RF&P #1002 is at VMT also,
although I suspect that it would be in some kind of RF&P paint scheme
(some kind of blue and grey). What is the 1002's status, because that might shed some light on this mystery.
Phil
ELRRco@AOl.com |
