We have all heard that the NKP 765 was awarded a TEA-21 grant to help fund the restoration of the engine.
I would like to hear about other successful railroad preservation projects that received TEA-21 Awards (or ISTEA Awards in previous years) to fund the projects.
What have your experiences been with dealing with your State administrators for the project? Also, how were the expenses paid and how timely were the reimbursements?
Thanks for your response.
Heritage_ltd@msn.com |

The ability to be successful with TEA-21 Enhansement grants varies by what state the project is in. Although this is a federal program, each state sets up its own evaluation criteria for applications. Historical Preservation and the Preservation of Historical Transportation Facilities take on different priorities in each state. There are a total of four categories that rail preservation projects can be eligible. We have been successful in several states with the procurement of millions of funds under this program.
garyland@stoneconsulting.com |
