I ran across the below linked photo of one of Don Leap's former West Virginia Northern 2-8-0's which have been long stored (and often talked about) near Hyndman, PA. The engine in the photo is ex-WVN 8, later Preston RR 18. This is the "clearest" shot I've seen (online or otherwise) of 8 sitting at Hyndman. As most folks here already know, this engine and its sister locomotive are on private property and unannounced "casual" visits are NOT welcome by the owner.

Jim Robinson

Jim: I understand that the other Preston (ex-WVN) 2-8-0 is "stored inside" although the building is supposedly not in good condition.

Does the same person that owns the WVN engines also own the two foot gauge line near Hnydman?

Does anyone have any info on this little line?

Yes, He owns several engines. A couple of them are from steel companies and if I remember right 3 of them are from Germany. It's been three years since I was there video tapeing the 2-8-0's for a possible purchase. At that time he wanted 60k for both but the problem is getting them out. They would have to be trucked over a girder bridge that has no decking. Dennis
