Over the past few weeks I've been doing some vitual railfaning with the IRM's webcam. It got me wondering if any other museums are doing something similar. I was taken off guard this afternoon though. Today was the first time that I've used the cam on a Saturday and according to the museum's website schedule the coach train was suppposed to be pulled by BN-3 today. It took me by surprise when 1630 popped into view from the left side of the screen. Glad I was able to hit the print screen button in time. ![]() davelecount@juno.com |

Thanks for the kind words on the webcam and our operation at IRM. The Frisco decapod went back into service on Memorial Day weekend this season (on schedule) after a super job getting her ready by all those in our steam department. They are to be publicly congratulated and thanked. At this time we plan to have her in train service two weekends (Sat and Sun) EACH MONTH for the remaining visitor season. For those also interested in new technology at old museums, we are part of the Weather Net system and have a live 24 hour automated meteorological hookup accessed through the NBC affiliate in Chicago, WMAQ. So you will always know which way the wind blows. Bob Kutella 68trolley@attbi.com |

For those who want more of IRM, there is a 1999 video of the museum which runs for over an hour. Covers everything: Steam, Diesel, Streetcars, Interurbans and even their Horsecar! It says they have the largest collection of rail equipment in the US and the second largest collection of steam engines! i expect that the tape is still in the museum store. Ted ted_miles@nps.gov |
