Very interesting Dave, thanks for posting. Visited the site last year, amazing. I picked up a brick, now I have from both the roundhouses in Carbondale and Oneonta. Any further info on that turntable by the former diesel shop? Nice work! Joshua joshua@joshuakblay.com |

Dave, Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Ihad last seen the complex I guess a year or so before it was torn down. At that time the roof was still intact. The fire must have beeen later. I grew up in Forest City back in the forty's and my playground was in the freight station there and many a day I remember the long slow trains dragging uphill and then watching the "Kicker" drifting back down grade to pick up another train. I never knew untill the early 90's that there had been a complex in Carbondale. By that time, almost all was gome. Do you know of any history/pictures of the complex when it was still in operation? The only ones that I have seen was a article in the Bridge line mag as to when the changed the turntable to a larger on in record time! Would love to see them. Bob rrnut@prodigy.net |
